A Handbook for Lawyers, Judges, Civil Activists, and Child Rights Clinics (Farsi)
In September 2022, the killing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini shattered decades of suppressed anger among the Iranian people, driving them to the streets with dreams of justice, freedom, and democracy. The youth of this land, burdened like others by discrimination and deprivation, became a powerful arm of the Iranian people’s revolutionary movement and joined this path.
However, the regime’s forces launched a brutal, systematic, and merciless crackdown against them. Teenagers, perhaps even more than adults, became targets of beatings, assaults, torture, and killings, with no regard for legal standards, leaving them battered and bloodied. The persistence and vitality of the movement, along with teenagers’ insistence on active participation, inspired the creation of this guidebook. It aims to educate them on their rights as emphasized in international and domestic laws, regulations, and documents. The guidebook serves as a non-violent tool in the face of the regime’s repression, helping to protect their lives and bodies.
This compilation is designed to be a reference for parents, school officials, educators, civil society activists, social workers, and child rights clinics when teenagers are detained. Additionally, lawyers and judges involved in juvenile cases can use it to ensure justice, recalling overlooked regulations and essential points in juvenile proceedings.
